Oh, You’re No Fun Anymore

I happen to have some experience with this test (or one of the MoCA variants with a camel, at any rate).

As Ericka experienced a pronounced decline in her physical and mental health starting in 2016, I was the one responsible for getting her various appointments scheduled, since that was very difficult for her, and sitting in said appointments, observing and advocating for her.  She was given that test at least three times (if memory serves).

Following her last go with it, Ericka's neurologist sent her for an all-day neuropsych eval.  That provided us the only diagnosis we ever had to work with (used it when I began the process of applying for disability on her behalf, etc): a rather vague and unsatisfactory "unspecified mild neurocognitive disorder," which we were told was consistent with early onset dementia.  That was late 2018, when she was 45.  It was all downhill from there.

Anyway, they don't administer that test so you can get a gold star on the fridge.  As others have observed, only a low IQ guy would be bragging about giraffe or camel spotting.

Selah.

PS - She had a number of MRIs and other scans as well.  Also not something you do on the regular.
